try out & out
(Material) research can lead/inspire toward other projects or for a database of (material) research. In this section, there will be a few (un)done projects for the sake of trying out and researching their being and/or why they fit a certain prompt.
Soap remains on you after washing your hands. Little particles stay there, making your hands smell, hopefully, nice. You never wash your hands to make your hands dirty.

When my dog died and I found some hair from him, I started to think how dirty that could be and how his hair remained among us, making him visible for a little while. This lead to the combination of making soap of my dogs hair: leaving traces with me.
This project first started as an experiment with materials. There are actually no good pictures left because the camera with the pictures on it is stolen (life happens). Nonetheless, I want to give it a part in my current portfolio where it all started and where I still have the yearning to work with my hands in correlation to societal topics.
More than 80% of the residents in Thailand are lactose intolerant. Even though milk is making them really sick, the general of Thailand believed by giving the milk that was a surplus from Denmark, would make their residents long and strong. He believed: the longer the body, the healthier. Totally contradictory to the actual findings where milk actually makes them unhealthy due to their intolerance.

This research started with creating an element for the Thai; to use the surplus in a different manner. Now, years, later, I would have done it differently where milk is one of the main death causes for cows as well as causing devastating living situations for these animals.

Used in this process are milk, gelatine, lemon extract, and, the main ingredient, milk. I found out that the more the lemon, the better it behold the fungus, even resulting in no fungus after months. The more gelatin, the more flexible, but also more prone to fungus.
